I remember when I was a cashier at a store and supposedly, secret shoppers were to be visting where I worked frequently. I never got caught by one, but a few of my co-workers did. I don't even know how effective they would even be.....my co-workers still had their damn jobs even after a failing grade by the shopper.

That is a pimp job to have. I had a friend who was one for restaurants. She loved being able to dine on someone's dime.

LOL - now that's one I'd like - the restaurant one - wow! Great way to test new places and not worry about the bill, though they can be pretty specific. Order your meal, ask for a particular substitution, see if they offer you this, and so on.

^^^^They should give you freedom to be random with them. They'd be surprised at how far somebody's particular taste could test a restaurant.

I guess it could be, if you were a good enough actor. Secret Shoppers have to have product knowledge -and- be able
to inspect and ask questions without seeming conspicuous. I have worked at retail jobs before where the management
and sales floor get together and discuss methods for spotting the retail narks.
