Force-Feeding of Anorexics

Should the medical profession force-feed anorexics as part of their treatment?

That doesn't treat the real problem. It's mental.

I think they need to face their issues before any kind of feeding takes place.

Of course if they're not fed, they could die before they face any issues.

Yeah if they're in the hospital. What's the point in their being there for treatment and allowing their neurosis continue?

Well it's kind of like Lindsay Lohan was sent to rehab so she'd quit drinking, but at the same time the rehab people let her take as many drugs as she needs to to face the day...it defeats the whole purpose in even being there if they're not going to try and help the patient.

Severe anorexics have such a destroyed digestive system that their bodies tend to not handle food very well, even when they try to eat but you couldn't let them continue to not have any intake or procrastinate on their rehab. I have zero experience dealing with this sort of thing but I would guess that they would need to be weened back into food.

I think that they should when they have had a parent take over the person's ability to make their own medical decisions. Otherwise, too many parents could not save their kids. Eating disorders are serious and sometimes it takes extreme medical intervention to save the kids.
