| A large chunk of my family on both sides are here in Michigan; but many of my mom's relatives are in Toronto, Canada, while many of my dad's family is scattered throughout Atlanta and Louisiana.
Subquestion:
Have you been to any of the other places where your family resides, and if so how does they (in your eyes) measure up against your city? | |

| Relatives on my mother side in Atlanta.
Relatives on my fathers side in South Carolina.
Been to Atlanta, like 15 years ago....eh....seemed decent, but I'm not big on the whole "Southern Hospitality" thing, so I would wanna live there. One of my cousins is from Detroit, but moved to ATL 20 years ago and has never returned (except to visit.)
As far as my fathers side goes, never been to SC. The only time I ever saw those people was when they trekked it to the D.

| Both my mother and my father are from South Carolina. Same town. So large chunks of both sides of my family are still there. Like most black folks back in the 40's, 50's and 60's.....New York and other northern citites was a place that everyone migrated to for a better life. Most of my father's side migrated here and a big part of my family was bred here. However, about 15 years ago, they started moving back down south and to other places. So I have family scattered in upstate New York, Atlanta, Philly, Virginia, North and South Carolina, California and Florida. And yes, I've been to the places where my other family resides. My mother lives in Jacksonville, FL...and although it's pretty nice, I don't think I'd want to live there. Same for North Carolina and Atlanta. I've been to Atlanta so many damn times, I don't even want to see it for another year or two. I even moved to my mom and dad's hometown in SC a few years ago for a little while. How does it measure up? Well, I'm back in New York.  | |

| Most of my family on Dad's side are in Chicago. I have been there a lot and will be living there again some day.
Mom's side is all in Alabama. I have been there, but not since childhood. | |
