You know the story probably better than they do. How did mom and did meet?

My mother put an ad in a magazine.

My Mom met my Dad at an Italian feast. He saw her and was captivated by her and pursued her until she gave in. The rest as they say is History.

As a teenager, in the early to mid 70s, my mom worked at my grandfathers party store. My dad (also in his teens) frequented the store, yada-yada-yada...yada-yada-yada some more...by the end of the decade, it was the three of us.

A mutual friend introduced them. Beyond that, I know nothing about it because my family was never big on sharing personal stories.

Dad went to school/hung out with my mom's brothers. Grew up virtually in the same area. He's known my mother since she was like 6 or 7. That's basically it. They've always known each other. You can figure out the rest.

When they were kids, my fathers family moved to the same street my mothers family lived on. They were both in their early teens at the time. According to what I heard, my father always liked my mother from the first time he saw her....but she didn't like him. Then he went down south to live with family for about 2 years, and when he returned he had thinned out and grew several inches. Moms was finally impressed and they started dating.

My parents met in 1969. My mom was renting a house with a roommate, my dad was working as a gas man at the time. One day he came over to check the meters, and apparently the two hit it off so well that he continued coming over. Two years later, they were married. So funny to see pictures of them from back then, my dad looked like Clarence Williams III and my mom looked like Gloria Steinem.

My parents met at October Fest while they were both teaching at an air force base in Germany in the mid 70's. I still have fun teasing them about meeting at Oct. Fest, as neither of them are big drinkers. My Dad taught middle school and my Mom elementary school. They fell in love and when they came back to Canada, they found teaching jobs in the same city and eventually got married.

Everyone has such neat stories!

My dad a white British foreign exchange student and my mom young African-American girl met at party in 1964. They said they were intrigued with each other and didn't care about skin color or the fact that my dad would have to eventually go home. They worked it out. My mom was 16 when my sister was born and 17 when I was born. My dad is two years older than my mom.

According to my dad, they met on the military base in my mom's hometown and he eventually recruited her to VA. My mom is mum on the issue so....since we've in VA I would have to assume it's true.

My mom's car broke down with her three kids in it, and my dad who was a mechanic stopped and helped her. He fixed the car, even paid for the part. Then he took her to a movie, Tora!Tora!Tora! which she wasnt impressed with.... he thought it romantic to buy one popcorn and one soda and share it---she thought it was cheap and said that she did not know him and should not be expected to share popcorn/soda with a man she just met.

The next day he bought the really really huge bags of popcorn and filled the inside of her car with it. Then they had me and my brother... so I am really appreciative for the invention of popcorn LOL
