Guys, would you ever get fixed? Women, would you ever encourage your man to get that procedure done?

Nope, I just feel its not healthy to alter that part of your body, there are always methods to prevent any accidents and if they occur, then it was meant to be.

I wouldn't encourage him to do it, but I might bring it up as an option if we both decided that we were done having children. Truth be told, I would sooner opt to have my tubes tied, because they can be untied if any reconsideration was done. On the other hand, vasectomies are usually permanent.

I think it is a bad idea unless the guy is out of his 30's. There are too many things that can happen to make a man regret his decision. My husband got one when our son was one. He was no where near his 40's at that time, but he did not want anymore children and it was just his decision. It is strange. I never thought it was a good decision or a bad decision. Our first five years were so terrible that I couldn't dream of adding a child. Then when things got better, I rather liked it just being our son and his daughter.

I had one when I was about 38. My wife and I were 32 when we decided to have our daughter and it wasn't too long after that we mutually decided that she was going to be it. By the time she was about 6 I finally deided to have it done. I researched the risks and decided they were small enough so I had it done. No regrets.

A very good friend of mine was/is looking to get a vasectomy and he has zero kids. He claims he's that adamant about not having any and while I don't blame him for not wanting any, I still think it's a little extreme for him. He could meet someone that will change his mind. I don't think a guy should have a vasectomy unless he already has children. It's not that hard to stop yourself from having children on YOUR end. Don't rely on the woman to be on birth control. But in any case, it's your body. I wouldn't encourage my man to get one unless he wanted to and we've been together forever and we already had a couple of crumbsnatchers.

I think if a man wants a vasectomy, then he should do it, whether or not he has children already. I've never been too keen on the idea of being a mother and while I'd never encourage a man I was with to do it, I'd support him if that's what he wanted to do.

If I had already had 2 or 3 kids I would consider it. But seeing as how I am without children now, I would not consider it.

Can't see ever doing such a thing. Even if I decided that I don't want any (I don't) still I would like knowing that I had the ability to make produce them.
