6 year old brings plastic, orange tipped cap gun to school, SWAT team called in

Okay so this article doesn't mention the SWAT team, the first article I read also commented that one of the parents of two students saw the SWAT team come in, jumping out of SUVs with rifles...over a transparent plastic orange tipped cap gun? Geez, can we become anymore of a paranoid, pussified nation? What's next? A kid's going to point his finger and say 'bang' and they're going to demand SORT bombard him with tear gas because he's so dangerous, him and his weapon?

My friend's son did this in 4K and he was sent home for the day and he and his parents had a meeting with the teacher and principal.

A meeting? Over what? Is pointing your finger now considered a threatening gesture? Geez, all the time it makes me more and more grateful I was homeschooled and that if I ever have kids, they will be too.

The meeting was about how even simulating gun use is against their policy. Pretty crazy, isn't it?

That's ridiculous. I used to love those cap guns when I was a kid too.

Yup. I know of several situations like that. Those kids should be watching more porn and fewer violent movies. KIDDING! It's just one more example of a zero tolerence policy. No room for common sense.

Well it seems any more there IS no room for common sense in public schools, over the years we've seen stories on: Kids being suspended or given detention if they so much as touch each other because that's a public display of affection, some schools don't let the kids sing any Christmas carols that actually have the word Christmas in it or refer to Jesus or Bethelem or whatever, a 13 year old is STRIP searched because she might be carrying *gasp* ibuprofen, such an evil drug, for menstrual cramps, and then there's still the annoying little matter of 48% of elementary schools in the country doing away with recess and not having any playground for the kids to get any exercise on, because if they're playing at recess, they won't study in class . This is just the latest example of their stupidity.

If a school is unable to tell the difference between a plastic cap gun with an orange tip, and can't handle the situation without a SWAT team, then I question whether or not I want my kid going there. That's just too much.

I KNOW, HUH? Besides it was a TRANSPARENT plastic gun, real guns are NOT transparent, they are black and/or gray, and yes, then you have the whole orange tip which they made a law toy guns HAVE to have so you KNOW it's a toy in the first place! What the hell is wrong with people? I swear, every day I see more and more reasons why I am SO thankful I was homeschooled and kept away from such stupidity, who knows? It might be contagious!
