I didn't want to hijack Marc's thread on laptops but it got me thinking. We've always had PCs but I guess it's just become a habit by now. We gave our daughter a Mac laptop a few Christmases ago at her request but I've never used. What do you folks use and why?

Re: PC or Mac?
Mac's are more lavish, but PC's are more user friendly. I have to use a Mac at work and it took a while to get used to not being able to do things, like RIGHT CLICK or paint.

I so do not even understand and appreciate the difference. My step daughter had to get a Mac for school which is so lame, as she was elem. ed.

I have a PC.....but when I get the extra disposable bread, I might get a Mac. They're that nice, however, I do think that people who have businesses and/or work an extreme amount from there comp at home are the ones who should really be in the market for Mac's. Not for someone who is just a regular pc user and would basically be only using their comp for Facebook, YouTube, type up a book report, etc. They're too expensive to be getting just for casual use. Yeah yeah, I know they don't make viruses and all that other stuff for Mac and that's a benefit, but if you get an anti-virus/spyware that solves that problem. And as someone mentioned, PC's are a lot more user friendly.

Re: PC or Mac?
I actually have both, but I primarily use my Mac. It cost $1300, that alone is reason enough for me to give it precedence over my $500 eMachine. Plus, it has a lot more memory. It took a while to get used to, and there are certain things about PC that I much prefer (like paint, the ability to edit pictures, and right click), but I eventually adapted and now favor the Mac.

Re: PC or Mac?
I've always used a PC and that's my preference. Plus, the Mac commercials have really turned me off. They read like those political ads - trashy and desperate.

Re: PC or Mac?
We were using PC at work but then Microsoft tried extorting us with some licensing fee to they decided to switch to Mac. Well I've got a decade worth of tables in Word doc that do not translate to Pages. Excel does not go to Numbers.
Finally, after I was about to quit (If it weren't for this tanked economy where so many are unemployed I would have been gon e from here by now) they put in a Word for Mac program. That helps but there are still systemic things that Real Word does that the imitation Word does not.
They haven't installed any foto editing yet, but I doubt it will be as concise and user friendly as Microsoft Office Picture Manager - one of the best basic foto editors I've seen.
So, I prefer PC because of the ease with which it can make documents with inserted pics, pics that I can easily edit.

Re: PC or Mac?
PC.
I don't like Mac's. The only thing I appreciate about them is how the CPU is in the monitor, making them less clunky and cluttered. Beyond that, I'm not impressed. They're not as user-friendly as PC's are.
