Eh, not really on the surface although I guess one could be picky and say that sex addicts have a physical problem whereas promiscuous people are just willfully whores.

I think there is a real thing in sex addiction. It is an addiction. Promiscuity is not addiction, but more about someone being into the instant gratification that one gets from the usual casual sex.

Addiction is suffrage. Promiscuity is indulgence. Big difference. The latter can LEAD to the former but they are not innately the same.

I think there's a difference between the two. I think sex addiction is an actual addiction, an actual thing for which a person needs treatment. Promiscuity to me is more part of a person's personality - they have the control to stop themselves, but they decide not to.
