HomeI think about this sometimes. Like I wouldn't disown my kid if they got pregnant, or if they killed somebody, like some people might, but like if they were to throw their entire life, and the 12 years of education that I paid for, away, to say nothing of their pride, dignity, honor, integrity, etc., to become a drug dealer or a porn model/actress, that'd be the point I say 'get out of here, you aren't mine, somebody swapped you at the hospital with my real child'. And that may sound heartless but that's just me. How about everybody else?

You have to be kidding that dealing drugs and porn is your limit when murder is not. A person can stop dealing and doing porn, but you can't unkill someone.
I have no cut off. I love him no matter what. No strings or conditions. Well, as long as the Mother's Day gifts keep coming...

Except killing somebody is not always murder, if it was self defense or an accident or defense of another person or defense of property, that is not the same as murder but somebody still winds up dead.

I had a nephew that my wife brot home when he was 8 and he stayed a few months with us. Then he went back to Gainesville. As a teenager he stuck a gun in a woman's face and robbed her - got caught and went to prison. I had nothing to do with him for years and the same would apply to any child of mine.
My rationale: How dare you threaten another person and steal what they earned thru working.
As for my kid being an exotic dancer, porn star or even dope dealer, those are honorable professions. Not like being a politician or lawyer.

IME, people don't really know how they'll react until they're in the situation. So the question at hand is not something I feel like I can answer. People change, and they can change into something unlovable. If my son turned into the 21st century's version of Ted Bundy, I think I might cut off contact. That doesn't discount the love I feel for him today. Every horrific person on the planet is someone's child, and their parents probably loved them at one time.

I don't ever see myself disowning my kid. My kid is my kid. He may not always like what I have to say but I'm his dad.

I don't know...None of the things in the OP would do it, I know that.
I honestly can't imagine. Maybe if one of my kids murdered one of their siblings or something, God forbid. Even then it would be hard.
