This saturday I get a letter in the mail from my gas company, they want me to pay insurance on the gasline that comes into my house because if anything happens to it, its going to be very expensive to replace. I nearly busted a vein in my brain when I read this, it made me so angry! My Taxes are sky high, I pay insurance on my gas burner, my hot water heater, my sewer pipes, the water pipes in my house, my car, my health, how many more insurances am I expected to pay! I plan on writing a very heated note to our County Executive, then I am calling up the gas company and will give them a piece of my mind about this new insurance, I am about to put the For Sale Shingle outside I am so sick of the high cost of living here and how they are using psychology on people to get money out of your.

Re: Insurances
If it's not legal and there's no penalty for not doing it, fuck them.

Just another way for fat cats to get fatter. This should be covered in homeowners insurance anyway.

Re: Insurances
That sucks. The local phone company that has since been taken over by AT&T wanted us to pay insurance on the phone lines. I opted not to, then it almost bit me in the ass when a line in the basement messed everything up when it got damp. Lucky for me, since I was leasing the house, and because that line had been added by a previous tenant, I did not have to pay the bill for the repair, which was in the hundreds.

Re: Insurances
Yeah I solved it, I just never took the insurance out. I called them and they basically gave me the La la la la story and I basically told them to shove their insurance.

Re: Insurances
Glad you were able to tell them to stick it, T. I'm not suggesting that you actually buy their insurance but at least make sure you are covered in some way such as your home owner's policy or something. You've already been screwed by the railroad. I'd hate it if the gas company tried to pull a train on you too if the worst happens.

Re: Insurances
I talked to some of my neighbors and some have been living there for a very long time and they never heard of a gas pipe that had to be replaced. Screw them.
