Would you be fine with stories about your antics included in a published autobiography of a friend from your youth?

If they did, that would be a very BORING autobiography. The craziest thing I ever did as a kid with a friend was jump off their really high front porch balcony.

I guess if it was honest and not too derogatory or make me look bad. Fact is, I have already put autobiographical stuff on my personal Webpage about my HS friends:

    Ritenour High School Friends

Steve and I, along with a few other guys, were buddies in high school. He had the best model cars, doing professional-grade spray paint on them. He even got a drivers license before I did and of course I was the tag along in the car, making trips to Steak N Shake or just cruising.

I guess I could tell about us almost wrecking the '58 Olds while showing off. It was harrowing but we almost made it unscathed landing on a dirt embankment. (his dad found out because we missed something in the clean-up and he was grounded for a while). Also, Steve got a ticket for speeding and since I was passenger, was invited to attend his training session with him. They showed a police film of bad accidents, complete with people dying of severed limbs. I was almost afraid to drive home. Remember this was before seatbelts were required in cars.

I don't know if teen boys do this any more, but Steve was one of my buddies who shared a bed in a sleepover. Yeah, guys did that kinda girl stuff back in the '60s. He said I snored. I never knew.

I consider Tom my best friend in high school. We both came from inner city and moved to the 'burbs. We were also about a year older than our classmates because of the half-year system in the city schools. Tom and I came from different cultures; mine Baptist, white-bread American, his Catholic Sicilian, but we shared the same cynical sense of humor. He made jokes about the Pope and we both were irreverent in our outlook. It was at Tom's house where I tasted avocado for the first time, with salt, pepper and olive oil - how exotic! We spent a lot of time together as friends and I even invited him for a weekend sleepover at my house (where we had a meat dish on Friday - at that time not allowed by Catholics - but Tom was gracious and ate the Sloppy Joe)

Tom actually had a girlfriend, Jenny Kosta and I would accompany him on visits to her house, remaining in the background as they actually sat together and got affectionate. That is what best friends did in those days.

I joined the Air Force and Tom Joined the Marines after graduating and I later saw him at Camp Lejeune when I was stationed at Fort Meade.

I lost contact with Tom over the years but recently got in touch with Steve. Sent him the link to the high school Webpage and haven't heard any complaints or "cease & desist" orders.

Same here. I'm very boring too. I've had much more happen TO me than I ever actually DID. xD So same here, they'd have an awfully boring story if they included me.

Sure why not, as long as it was not slanderous.

So, Shale, you don't think being that chatty about friends, including last names, is too personal? I don't ask that accusingly, I am just curious. I never tell real names, even on message board posts. Not that I fear litigation or anything, I just fear someone finding a board I frequented, or someone who knows the person, and telling them. Everything we type online will be here forever.
