Veterans' Day

The eleventh day of the eleventh month, we honor our veterans. Well, some do. It's not even a holiday for many ppl - which is just as well when you see other holidays that lose all meaning except for taking the day off and merchandising.

This is a more somber occasion - not even on a weekend like Memorial Day. Just sayin'

I happen to be a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Never saw combat, but we also served who stood watch on the Soviet Union back in the day.

Are there any other vets on this board?

I just got back from a taping of the Tonight Show, with Jay Leno. He did an all military Veterans Day show. Very cool!

Thanks Shale for starting this thread. I was going to do something yesterday but came home sick and didn't get it done. So yes, thank you and captainbryce for standing watch over the rest of us. I registered for the draft in 1974 but it wasn't long after that they stopped calling numbers. I remember though that almost as an after thought the clerk at town hall asked if I wanted to register to vote too. I've been trying to honor veteran's service that way ever since.
