    Drug interventions Empty Drug interventions

Do you think interventions work? I have never participated in one, but it seems to me that they have a greater chance of antagonizing the addict into clinging to their addictions all the more.

According to CNN and other news reports, Janet Jackson was so concerned about her brother Michael Jackson's abuse of prescription drugs, including Demerol and Oxycontin, that she staged a substance abuse
intervention for Jackson with the help of her brothers. Michael Jackson ordered his security detail to not let his family in and would not take calls from his mother.

I'm not familiar enough with them to know. I mean - I know people use them, but I haven't had any experience with them. I think it depends on if the person wants to change. If they've totally hardened themselves, I don't think an intervention would be affective, but if they want to change, I think that would be different.

Drug interventions probably have a high failure rate because nobody likes being ambushed but something is better than nothing. Cant fault people for trying.

I don't think they hurt. Once a person has tried to convince an addict to get help by talking one on one, and failed, what else is there?
