I think I stopped listening to the radio on a regular basis when I got my current car, which featured a CD player. Radio is just so awful today....but from time to time, I make an attempt to listen to it because I don't wanna get too out of sorts....but I can barely tolerate it. I can't remember the last time I turned on my home stereo, and tuned it to a station. The only time I might ever listen to it is in the car, and that might last all of 10 minutes before I got back to my homemade CDs.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
I be trying to too, but they still play the same shit over and over and over and over again. Some of it is cool, but it gets quite untolerable when the majority of the music nowadays is complete crap. Every now and then, I get on the Hot 97 or Power 105 website and get a look at their playlists and try to see what's new out. Nine times out of ten, I ain't missing nothing. Either I heard it before somewhere or it's garbage. If do listen to the radio, and most of the it's going to be when I'm at work, then I listen to Kiss FM or WBLS and their format is adult contemparary and older music. Most of which I have on my iPod anyway. The only time I'll really tune in into the radio is if one of those stations are doing their reggae block.

There's a talk show I listen to on my morning commute but on the way home I plug in my iPod.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
There's only so much bleating-Rihanna, talky-Ke$ha, silly ass-Pitbull and corny pop/rock song you can stand on Top 40 radio....and on black radio, it's wall to wall 2nd rate, interchangeable, no-name hiphop....tempered by the occasional (but usually generic) R&B song.
Radio is such a depressing experience today. And I know that throughout history ALL people who're the age I am now have said that....but God, I really think a 31 year old in 1990 was probably less put off by what the shit that was being called a hit then than I am today.
When I was a kid, I used to have a portable radio by my bed, turned down low that would play me to sleep. I can't imagine doing that today.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
It's the same 15 songs played over & over. Most of them auto tuned start to the max. No thanks. Most of the time at home I listen to my own collection or the blues channel on tv but even that can get repetitive.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
If I listen to the radio, it's usually in the morning on the drive to work. That's largely because I want to hear traffic updates. In the meantime, I can tolerate the morning show hosts, even if the music they play is a bunch of nonsense. All other times it's mostly CDs and iPod transmitter for me. I feel like I am in a unique space: too old for much of the current teenybopper shit, but still too young to keep the dial on A/C stations. So this is what "30-something" is like?

I listen to the radio but I don't listen to popular black radio anymore since I have children.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
God, no. Gave up on [broadcast] radio about five or six years ago. Satellite radio is the only kind of radio I'll listen to today, and even that makes me leery. These days I collect my MP3s, sync my iPod and burn my discs. I'm not thrilled to do this, but they leave me no other choice.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
I almost never do. When I'm in driving I mostly listen to CD's I burned and most of that is of older music. When I'm at home I usually just listen to music on my iPod or on the computer. I have a big ass Koss stereo system that's 10 years old that still looks and sounds brand new, that's because I rarely use it.

Yup - I have a few radio stations that I really like, and I"ll often listen to a new one on the way home.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
I still listen to the radio but don't have a station I trust long enough to keep it on that dial. When I'm in the car with people I always listen to the radio. When travelling alone sometimes mix cds, but nobody wants to hear your own music so the radio is safer when others are around.

Re: Do You Listen to the Radio?
I do more now, since my son prefers it in the car. But I despise local radio. We had satellite radio for a long time, but then commercials were on that so I refused to keep up the monthly fee.
