Has anyone used your parents to get to you, romantically?

The parents' setting kids up thread made this come to mind.

Has anyone ever used your parents as a method to get to you?

In my hometown, this happened to me. Jeff, a guy I would never date, wanted to date me and tried a lot. I did not even live there, yet he really wanted something to happen between us. He was off limits to me because he was someone my high school best friend dated, and she was strange about it, so he was officially "off limits".

Anyway, my dad and I are absolutely 100% not the type to talk to each other about real life stuff..at all. But, Jeff took him out for a steak dinner to ask him for help in wooing me. It was the worst thing because my dad then felt obligated to ask me if I would call Jeff.

That is probably an extreme example. It worked for Jeff because Dad saw him regularly in town, and Jeff one day baited him by saying he had something important to talk about. Dad was not the little town supervisor at the time, but had recently been, so I guess he thought it would be something to do with the town and not me.

Yep. One the guys from my mother's old job used to try and get at me.......I used to drop off and pick my mother up from work so I've met quite a few of her co-workers. Even though we never talked about my love life, ironically enough, my mother knows my type. He wasn't it. But she still used to tell me what he would say about me and actually offered to do her work for her one time if she could convince me to go out with him.

Yes. When I was in high school, a girl who liked me's father was friends with my dad. Very transparently, she would tag along with her dad when he'd casually visit mine.
