Anybody have estranged parents?

I don't but my guy does.

His mom is an awful human. He has tried, tried and tried again with that woman, but failed every time.

She currently owes him almost $30K. Long story, it involves him buying her a house trailer that she walked away from. He ended up selling it for a huge loss due to her back lot rent plus depreciation. So, technically, it isn't 30K, but close to it, due to the type of interest that was on the loan of a friggin trailer house she just had to have, and he bought for her, that she "promised" to pay back. It ended up being about $28K.

She has not been in contact since 2006. She decided that she should call tonight for his birthday. He said he called her back because he was afraid something may have happened to his grandmother....well, I think he had to have known it was due to his birthday. Since it is his birthday.

I guess some people do have a tendency to want their parents. I bit my tongue for all of two seconds before I had to ask if she offered up any cash. She did not.

So, are any of you estranged from the parental units?

my ma and dad divorced almost 25 yrs ago...only seen him few times, then when i was 17 he had moved in briefly wit my oldest sister, they got into huge argument, havent seen him since.

Shale, great advice. Our money is 100% separate, but yet, I am a type that harps on things, and this is a huge thing for me to get past. She moved out of state without warning. Makes me crazy pissed when I think of it.

But, honestly thinking of you to get over your own mom discriminating against your love does inspire me a tad to keep mum about the phone call, as your situation is more serious. But that is going to be so hard....

That has to be so difficult.

^^^ all good. ive gotten over/passed it. the incident wit my sister was 11 yrs ago, after split between wit my ma, i had already gotten used to not seeing him.

I haven't seen my father in five years. We were never especially close. My parents divorced when I was a teenager....he become involved with another woman, had a baby with her....and from there, our already thin rapport became thinner.

I will never understand parents who do not give it their all to keep in touch with their amazing kids. Or grandparents who do not keep up with grandchildren.

It boggles the mind.

My son has the world's best grandmother and lost her too soon, and on the other side has always had a shit grandmother.

Almost completely estranged from my dad. The only reason we see each other is because he's still somewhat involved with in underage brother and sisters lives so he from time to time make an appearance at the house. We don't talk and I prefer to not be there when he's around.
