Other board members who watch OLTL are well aware of the stories they do there about that, but I want to ask in general: have you ever known someone who suffered from split personality or multiple personality disorder? I don't mean someone who is just temperamental or who when they drink their personality changes. Instead someone who was clinically diagnosed with the disease of MPD (or DID)?

JB I know very well about the multiple personality storylines on OLTL but I don't think I have ever met anyone with DID in person, nor do I know anyone that has it. Might be interesting to meet someone like that!

I had an uncle who was a paranoid schizophrenic and thought someone else was living inside of him. Sometimes that "someone" would tell him what to do and other times he was under the impression he WAS that someone.

MPD no but BiPolar, yes.

Never known anyone who suffered from this particular illness but it's a fascinating one to say the least. The different personalities are literally their own entity and have little common ground. I was watching a profile once on a guy who suffered from the disease. When he lapsed into his other personality, he was interviewed next to his wife and when the interviewer asked him who she was he nonchalantly glanced at her and said "I don't know that woman."

I think that actual DID is very rare. No, I have never known anyone like that. But, unfortunately did know someone who was bipolar. That was hard to see.
