A friend of mine doesn't own a TV and hasn't had one in four years. He's not home alot and says anything he needs to see he streams online and can watch DVDs on his PC. I don't watch alot of TV but don't think I could live in a house that didn't have one. I need to know one is there even if I don't watch it.

No I couldn't. I don't need to have one in every room, and I probably don't even need cable, but there needs to be at least one television set the house.

I could because I'm not home that much anyway and rarely ever watch TV. When I do it's mostly repeats.

There was a time when I was a young man in my 20s that I did not own a TV. I was running around too much, hanging with the wrong crowd, smoking dope and having casual sex. TV couldn't compete with that. 
Now I only have half a dozen shows that I watch, but I turn on the news at 6 to 7 each night, so that is what I would miss.
Also need someplace to play my DVD's - computer not as comfortable.

I think I could. We didn't have cable for 10 years and I rarely watched TV then...Now is a different story but if push came to shove I'm sure I'd be fine without it and I'd probably do a lot more reading...My kids would NOT be happy about it though! They love to stream Netflix through the Wii.

I could do just fine without one. I would miss having DVR service, but I would just watch things online, and would watch much less crap. So, it would be a very good thing. I would miss morning and evening news though. I would have to catch that on the laptop, I guess.
