| French accents, I think, are what work my nerve. There was a big debate about this, in an episode of Law and Order SVU there was this mother who was French and she lived all over the world, and when she spoke it sounded like she was gargling on a mouth full of rocks, and some people said that's just the accent, I don't think it is, but they insist it was, but it was irritating as hell to me. | |

| I like a lot of accents from the North Eastern part of the U.S. - Boston accents, Brooklyn accents, Jersey accents. They make the men sound tough. One type of accent I don't really care for is the French accent - it sounds kind of pompous. I also really hate Valley Girl accents - it sounds like they have the I.Q. of a flea. With a Southern accent, it makes the women sound like delicate, lovely flowers, while it makes the men sound girly. | |

| Island accents are the sexiest in the world. Especially when someone who is from the islands can switch it up at the drop of a hat. I have several friends from the islands. All of my guys friends who are from there can do it......I used to call up my homeboy at work and he would answer the phone sounding all American, prim and 'proper' then in the middle of the conversation.....go straight into his Jamaican patois. Used to turn.me.on. | |

Yeah, me too. I like the diversity of speech. When I first got to New Orleans in the late '60s you still heard that Cajun accent around town.
I even like those New York accents that are so common here. Forget Spanish, every Puerto Rican I know has a NY accent.

We have a lot of those accents here in Miami and it is beautiful to listen to (as long as it is not a patois that has deviated so much from English you can't understand it at all)
I know this girl who you would not guess is from Jamaica. She is very American and no discernable accent. One day I heard her talking with other Islanders and the accent came out.

LOVE: General American ("non accented" American) - what "American English is supposed to sound like British (RP/Queen's English) - What British English is supposed to sound like Australian - these accents make me laugh, mostly because of Steve Irwin French - these accents sound sexy to me Italian - Italians always sound like they are singing Carribean - also sexy sounding accents Irish - this is a pleasant sounding accent to me HATE: Louisiana (creole/cajun talk) - can't understand what the hell they're saying southern California (valley talk) - valley talk sounds ignorant Deep south US (Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi) - sound ignorant AND racist Boston accent - they make me laugh. Pak da caa! New Yawk/Joisy accent - even though it's where I'm from, I disguise my own Ebonics - learn proper grammar Thick Latino/hispanic accent - learn proper enunciation Chinese American (Engrish) - learn proper pronounciation British (Cockney accent) - sound like they have a mouth full of spit British (London ghetto/street talk) - ignorant Brits Scottish - Thicker and harder to understand than the more pleasant Irish

| I don't know what accents I "love".... but I can say that I'm most of the time not fond of thick British accents. | |

| I like Irish or Scottish accents most and I like some British accents but some grate on my nerves. My cousin has a great accent, though, and so do some of my friends who are also British. One of them said that the accent that grated on my nerves was from one particular part of Britain and that it was considered a lower class accent. She said when she was younger, she and her friends tried copying the Queen's accent, thinking it was sophisticated - lol! | |
