Paypal accounts

Do you have a paypal account? If so, do you actively use it? In my fifteen years online, I've never set one up.

To make a short story long, I did have one for a while but I closed it a few months back. It all started when my iTunes account was hacked and some shit heads drained the $40 or so I had in my account from redeemed gift cards. I used to have it connected to my back account but thank goodness I had changed that some time prior. I reported the problem to iTunes and I guess I'm one of the few lucky ones to have the money replaced (for one time only). If you read the fine print of the terms of use agreement, it's the user who is responsible even if it's iTunes that gets hacked (as in this case).

Anyway, it got me thinking about security issues with other merchants/vendors and I remember coming across a story or two about paypal so I decided to close the account. I didn't use it all that often to begin with.

^^this is the reason why I don't have one. When I buy online I use a card. Paypal seems to have had too many issues. Just don't trust them.

I don't and that has really killed me on Ebay, they don't let their sellers take money orders anymore, which in all the years I used when I bought online, I had very little trouble with. But like others, we don't trust it.

I have one, but haven't used it in years. Big ol' convoluted system, if you ask me. If I'm ordering something, I'll use my secure credit card.

Interesting. Whenever I order something and they have PayPal as an option, that's my preferred way of paying. I've been using them for years and never had a problem.
