Southland is the only series I've been this excited over in a long time. I'm glad TNT has given it another shot after NBC gave it the boot. Plus, Regina King is an under-rated, under-appreciated phenomenal talent and beautiful on top of all that. Anybody else care about this show?

So TNT actually ordered new episodes? Last I heard they were just airing the episodes that NBC didn't after it was cancelled, and seeing how well they would be received before making a commitment to keep production going.

Brand new episodes. You're right, they did air the episodes already in the can after NBC canx it, but it did well enough by TNT's standards to keep it going.

Isn't that the one that had Ben McKenzie from The OC on it? I only tuned in for a few eppies.

All good. I might have to catch the repeat of the premiere. I did like it on NBC....it was much grittier and real than that Law & Order BS that's been on for a hundred years. Is the production style still the same? I think they used to curse and it would be bleeped, just for that added grit.

Yeah, Ben is in it. I recognized his face but didn't know what he'd be in. Never watched OC. And I agree--it's much grittier than similar shows in that genre. It amazes me that stuff like Southland can't attract enough support to stay on network tv but a bunch of horrible others do well. One of the reasons I don't bother to get into the new fall season when it rolls around because I know anything I like will be cancelled. Hate to be left hanging... But if I'm doing that, maybe others are too and that's part of the problem to begin with.

The good shows always struggle. I wish there was a "On the bubble" kind of network where shows that are critically acclaimed but struggling got shipped to before the networks decided to cancel them.

I saw a couple episodes of Southland and I like Regina King, so I may give it another look.
