| I think this is an interesting subject nowadays, many people support this since it could provide useful for many things but others think it is a waste of money. The money spent on this area could spent on other fields which would actually help humankind.

Your opinions? Cat, if someone wants to say somethng like, "Spending billions of dollars to send someone to Mars when that money could be spent to directly feed people on Earth," they would have a valid point but have you done a search for "benefits of space exploration"? There are by- products from NASA that we enjoy (and have come to depend on) every day. The money was hardly wasted. Never mind the fact that it's just human nature to want to explore.

| It may be human nature to want to explore, but what are we finding? So far we really haven't found any other planets with life forms on it aside from what, space mold or bacteria or stuff like that? Also, considering the angle that we explore partially to find out if there IS other life out there, if our boys in NASA were to ever find that aliens existed, the government would NEVER allow them to tell about it, and probably kill them off and make it look like a shuttle malfunction or whatever, to avoid anybody from talking. And in the 1969 we made a very big deal about we could send a man to the moon and do it before the Russians did, alright we did it, but WHY exactly did we do it? I get that back then we didn't know as much about space exploration and so it's because of the further research that's done that we know as much about it as we do now, but I'm afraid I just don't see a lot of benefits for doing it. | |

| NASA should get more money. They already waste billions of dollars on bullshit anyway, why not spend money to explore space? Why not go to another planet? Better find out what's out there. | |

... Velcro Actually, Velcro was brot here by Vulcans when T'Pol's grandmother got stranded here in Earth's 1920s. (I think it was originally Vulcro in the '20s). Saw it on an episode of Star Trek.
OK, so I'm a Trekker - you know I'm for space exploration.
Oh there is another space-age medical advance, a pneumatic positive sequential pressure thrombo-embolic device for post-op patients not to get blood clots. Sorta operates like a space suit.

| I'm also waiting for someone to mention the urban legend that NASA spent millions of dollars to develope a pen that would work in space (while the Russians just used a pencil.) Didn't happen.

| Anybody actually believe there are other lifeforms [not talking about plants & algae] on different planets? That's what NASA's really been looking for all these decades and they still haven't found any. I don't mind studying & exploring the planets but I think some need to reconcile that earth is the only place where mammals exist. | |

| The space programs of the 20th century brought about some of the most important technological innovations that benefit society, yet the short-sighted masses cry and whine about the paltry amount of money being invested in NASA and its ilk.
Humanity must continue to expand into our solar system in order to sustain our ever-growing population and make use of the immense resources offered by extraplanetary bodies.

No alan, actually I haven't. I can believe that the money isn't going to waste, but I often wonder exactly what it is they're looking for. I'm thinking that it can't all be motivated by a fascination with exploring.
