Diet soda's.
Are you a fan of diet soda? Honestly, I can't stand any diet pop (or soda, for those of us who aren't from the MW.) They try and try to convince the public that it has the same great taste, but no. Coke Zero, Pepsi Zero. I taste the difference.

I can tolerate Diet Pepsi. It's the CLEAR diet soda that doesn't do it for me (Sprite, 7up, etc)

Diet Dr. Pepper is the only one I know of that isn't too bad. The rest are just undrinkable.

I don't drink diet anything, I don't trust the artificial sweeteners in them, my mother's system is very sensitive to those things and the artificial crap like Nutrasweet and aspartame just about make her sick, she doesn't have that reaction to real sugar and corn syrup in soda.

Re: Diet soda's.
I water down diet soda sometimes. Real soda isn't worth the calories.
Of course, I try to drink some Soda Stream stuff a lot too and those are better for ya and I like 'em enough. I ain't too picky.

I'd rather drink water than a "diet" beverage. Every time I drink one I chugalug to get it over with nursing a diet drink is a chore IMO.

I drink diet Pepsi with mixed drinks, but never just have a can by itself. I used to drink it all day long (sans alcohol!) which was so terrible.

I can taste the difference. Also studies show artificial sweeteners make you crave sweets and you end up gaining more weight anyway...Not worth it to me!

Very true. I once asked a personal trainer of diet soda's were better, and his answer was: not really. He said no more than two a week. IMO, if I'm only going to drink one soda a week, then I'll go regular.

Doesn't the sugar and corn syrup do the same thing according to studies?

Yes, but to a lesser degree. All people they studied who drank multiple sodas a day gained weight over time (not every person, but the majority of both groups) whether they drank diet or sugared sodas. The people who drank the diet sodas gained significantly more weight though.
They believe that 0 calorie sweeteners tricks your metabolism into believing that sweet=very little calories so it messes up your internal satiety system.

I knew a young man in my home town who drove a pulp truck (hauled wood to the paper mill). His route was 30 miles one way, and he would usually stop every couple hours at one of the town's gas stations to buy a bottle of Pepsi. When he switched to diet Pepsi, he lost weight. Not saying that holds true for everyone, but even while the sweeteners are bad, I think in terms of weight loss, regular sodas are way worse for someone trying to maintain or lose weight.

diet sodas? hhmm i normally dont drink.. but if i were to have one it be a cherry flavored diet (diet cherry pepsi or diet cherry dr pepper).. to me the cherry kinda off sets the weird diet after taste.

I'm not a fan of pop at all and rarely drink it. Even then, it's only a sip or two.

Can't stand the artificial sweetness of diet pop. The only time I ever bother with them is if someone brought one over and there's nothing else to drink.

Same thing happened to me, in the short term. I switched when I was 25 and lost 7 pounds...But then over time it came back, in spite of not switching back to regular soda's, and then my sugar cravings got out of control. I was always someone who could make a candy bar last a week and I turned into someone who could eat 3 candy bars in one sitting...
Then a while later I started hearing about the connection between artificial sweeteners and weight gain, so I switched to regular soda or stevia and I've managed to get it back under control.

Diet anything to me taste like it was mixed with rotten sugar. I can't drink more than a single glass of it (but maybe that's the intention).
