Turbo Tax

Has anyone ever used Turbo Tax? I was considering buying the software so I could do my own taxes this year, but I'm not that literate when it comes to these types of applications.

Cat, you might want to check out the free one. The only thing you have to pay for is state.

It's easy as pie. If you're not the type who itemizes, then it would be perfect for you. You just plug in the numbers from the W-2's and it does the math for you. However, I don't use the software. I have for other people. Turbo Tax is................................how should I say this? My dad's ex is a CPA and she taught me a few things, so I'm not going to give up any of my secrets, but I get more money back when I do my own taxes because I know the latest laws and loopholes. Turbo Tax is just a standard system to use. Nothing against it, it's a great software, but it doesn't go the extra mile like a live accoutant might do.

That's what "we" (my wife does the taxes) use. As NY said, it's good if you don't itemize, which we don't. I wouldn't do them even if she "allowed" me too big grin
