Before we discuss the remake lets return to the 1972 version, which featured Charles Bronson as Arthur a hit man. He's not a hero... who has little regard for who he kills...even a good friend. He sets up his next job over classical music. He goes to work well dressed. After the job is completed he returns to his exclusive sanctuary, until his next job. But wait, one of his jobs is to kill his own mentor and comrade. Enters Steve (Jan-Michael Vincent) a young spoiled sociopath, who also happens to be the son of the friend he killed. He's looking to the learn the business, without knowing the circumstances. Out of guilt Arthur takes in Steve and teaches him the art of being a hit man. A father-son type relationship develops, until or maybe not, the unspeakable frank and harsh conclusion...

There have been hundreds of hit-man films, so why do we need another, especial a remake. Well, maybe some of us don't remember the 40 year-old film or Charles Bronson, at that.

What we now have is a standard action thriller....with a very similar premise......updated with today's ideas and technology... called a remake. The actors Arthur ( Jason Statham) and Steve (Ben Foster) are captivating, especially Jason. I got the feel the film makers wanted more action and lots more noise. The film is almost as if they want Arthur to become an antihero. I enjoyed act l & III. The middle was a bit over-done, but logic is not the strong point in this film. Nor seeing what's coming.

BTW....Jason does several of his own stunts, such as the bridge scene, which you will see early on. he was a former member of the British National diving team. One cool character.
