My HS was two miles away, so we had the option of a school bus, which I caught in the morning up the street from my house. But I never took it in the evening, preferred to walk home with a friend who lived near me.

I either took the bus or had my Mom drive me to school, depending on what grade I was in.

From Nursey School to the 6th grade my mother drove me. From 7th grade to 10th grade I took the bus. 11th & 12th I drove myself.

When I was little, my Mom drove me. Once I was old enough, I walked or rode my bike.
