    You're taking this at face value. There's a lot of meaning behind that sentence. It's not about being afraid of the physical dark, I don't think.

    But rather, everything that you irrationally fear has its own side to the story.

    Or my personal theory: that anything you lie about and try to hide is still there when you think it's not. You can't erase anything.

    But you are going to take it at face value, the sentence still works. The rapist and the murderer are still there in the light. Earth rotation doesn't change that.
