We've talked about peanut butter, yogurt and Jell-O among other things. Does anybody else enjoy this tasty and nutritious Middle Eastern import?

Re: Hummus
Hmmm. Alan, I've never tasted it. Since it's an import, I guess it wouldn't be readily available at the supermarket, would it?

Re: Hummus
Yup - I like it. I don't go out of my way to buy it, but I'll enjoy it when I can.
Cateyes - most supermarkets where I live have it. It's made from chickpeas.

Re: Hummus
I like it. Too much. Sometimes it will upset my stomach if I eat too much.
There are different flavors, but the staple seems to be chick peas, sesame seed, olive oil and garlic.

I would be surprised if it wasn't available in your area, Cat. Maybe in the appetizer section? easy enough to make though. As Shale & TSJ have already said, it's main ingrediant is chick peas.

Re: Hummus
It's not bad at all. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it, but I've enjoyed it before. There is the this spot in LES that make this dope pita sandwich with hummus. Damn, can't remember the name of the place but a friend turned me on to them. Deeee-lish.

Never had it before. I've heard of it, but didn't quite know what it was.

Re: Hummus
Here's a variety that should be available in most areas
I like to make my own but it's tough to get it to the same smooth consistancy in a blender or food processor as store bought. I'm going to try a hand mixer next time.
