What are the best (some of your favorite) 'gay'-themed movies?
I liked Milk a lot.

I saw Making Love not too long ago on cable. Very good movie; what was really conspicuous to me about that movie was how Harry Hamlin's character was worried about having possibly contracted an STD (I forget which) that wasn't AIDS. The movie came out in, what, 1982? I can't help but think that if it had come just a year or so later, AIDS probably would have been it.

I thought The Bird Cage was pretty funny. I've never had a chance to see La cage aux folles.

If it was out in 82 then it was probably filmed in 81, and your probably right about it being AIDS. I try to stay away from overly depressing movies dealing with AIDS.

Ditto. I enjoy few AIDS-themed movies, although An Early Frost (which you named) was a good one too. I actually have that one on tape. Aiden Quinn should have won an Emmy for it, if he didn't.

I actually had the tape and threw it out when I got rid of my VHS collection. I like movies that are more upbeat rather than dealing with a subject that is going to leave you down and out after watching it.

I forgot about The Bird Cage that was pretty funny. I did see La Cage Auz Folles but that was a bit too campy for my tastes.

I forgot another one, Connie and Carla, its about two women (Nia Vardalos from My big fat greek wedding and Toni Collette from Muriels Wedding) who witness a murder and have to go undercover as drag queens to avoid a hit that is out on them, its hilarious!!

Not the greatest movie but a lot of eye candy.

"Maurice" was good. That aired commercial free and unedited on public access TV here about 15 years ago and I was shocked. Another good one was "Gods And Monsters".

It was unique in being a real movie about normal ppl having sex in NY, but the camera did not pull away or when there was a sex scene. They had orgy scenes, a patriotic 3-way guy scene (humming the Star Spangled Banner) a couple of JO scenes with cum spurts.
(I got pics - Will post them 'elsewhere')
Not so visually graphic is one of my favorite period pieces Far From Heaven about being gay in the '50s.
Also, Love, Valor, Compassion - which was contemporary when I saw it in theater but now would be a period movie.
