Ugh, I don't. It is awkward and I feel super paranoid and don't enjoy it at all.

My first go at this was when I first got my license and I was forced to drive an elderly man's mini van to take him to his appointments. I hated that and dislike it very much to this day.

No, it totally stresses me out. I don't even like driving my husband's car, much to his annoyance.

LOL, I don't like driving my guy's vehicle either, but it is a big ol' truck, so I am happy I don't ever drive it, per his liking!

My husbands is a stick. I can drive it, I learned on a stick and drove sticks until 2006...But now I am used to my van with all its amenities, and his is a 2004 focus that we just bought when his other car was totaled in October and it smells like BO to me. I don't know why it smells like that, the girl that we bought it from didn't stink...

By and large, no. Every car has its own temperament that only its owners are fully aware of and used to. Once I borrowed a friend of mine's truck to move, and wasn't at all comfortable with how it handled.

You learned on a stick? That is good because then it was never presented to you to just drive one on the spot. That happened to me. In my home town, I had to drive a small truck on a logging road that was a stick for the first time. It was so awful. It was so many years ago, and I still recall how terrible it was!

It's not that serious. Doesn't matter to me.......unless it's a car that comes with 'instructions' on how to drive it:

"When you come to a red light, pump the brakes four times so it can come to a complete stop"
    "Don't go past 40 mph"
"Use this screwdriver to start the car, turn it counterclockwise"
"When you stop the car, turn the car off while at the light, then crank it back up when the light turns green"

    Etc.........

It doesn't bother me if their car has no "issues". If borrowing it comes with a list of things to watch out for, then I would rather not be bothered.

I have house/dog/cat sat at a co-workers house while they went on vacation. I was living there and had to use their car for the week or more to go to work. Hated commuting 13 miles in rush hour traffic coming and going but had no other problem with driving their car. (it's a nice Honda)

Didn't really take it anywhere else except to stop by my apartment on weekends, park it then ride my bike to my usual destinations (like the nude beach that I would drive by on the way).

I will be driving my sister's SUV while staying at her house in April so she can get away.
