Do you believe in synchronicity and if you do, when it happens to you, what do you think it means?

Re: Do you believe in synchronicity?
IDK what it means, but I have had too many occurrences of it to just not think about it.
Like crossing paths with someone you know that you would have missed had either of you been 30 seconds later or earlier. Especially since you knew them in Florida and the path crossing was in New Orleans. (happened on two occasions)
How about digging in your little apartment garden area and finding an old dime in the sand - minted in your birth year.

One day I read a book about strange happenings, and one of them was when Edison electrocuted an elephant. I love elephants, they are my favorite animal besides crows, but I had never heard of that.
Then an hour later, I was listening to Michael Savage on the radio (IDK why I used to listen to his show every day, it would make me so mad but I did it anyway) and he mentioned Edison electrocuting an elephant!
In that same book, there was someone named Shepherd, someone named Archer, and someone named Desmond...All unusual names, all the names of my 3 youngest children.
There have been many small things like that, that have happened to me, including things like what you mentioned where you ran into someone in a weird place...
Also the story that I shared the other day where the lady prayed over my pregnant belly at a teriyaki place and then showed up in an elevator two days later at the hospital after my son was born!
I always think it means something
Perhaps that I'm on the right path at that time, and I should keep it up.

Re: Do you believe in synchronicity?
Are things like that synchronicity or just a grand coincidence? I don't know, but I do put stock in synchronicity. But, then again, we have so many things that happen to us, big and small that with all the days we are here, things like that are just bound to happen maybe?

I tend to think that a grand coincidence will happen once in a great while, but when you get a few of them in a row it means something. Of course I don't KNOW that, I'm agnostic after all...That's just what makes sense to me.

I do believe in it, but from a more general and less paranoid manner. If it has any influence over me at all, it is from an all over attitude perspective rather than over specific actions.

Maybe Jung just invented another word to describe a coincidence?

That would be an amazing coincidence, to be writing at your desk about Scarab Beetles, miles away from their home environment in Egypt, and to suddenly have one crawl across your desk.
I think these are SOMETHING, whether they are hallucinations, blips in "the matrix", signs from the universe, little gifts from God, fate...I don't know what, but I really think they are something interesting. Especially when you get a run of them.
Forgiveness Man, you sure have been loving that smiley lately. Is it your new favorite? I think the hugging one is my favorite, lol.

^^^^^I actually am just doing the same thing I always have been, sticking my tongue out. It's like automatic with me. But Chris changed what that smiley looks like so it catches your attention more.

My two examples of meeting ppl in New Orleans that I knew in Florida and would have missed if the timing were off my half a minute give me pause. One was a group of coworkers from a children's facility but they were in the French Quarter touristing after escorting some kid back to NO.
The other was actually a young man who was a child at that facility who returned to his home town. I was walking a few blocks to work and would vary my route cutting down a different side street just to see how it looked. That is when I ran into the kid I knew who was walking on one of my optional sidewalks.
Now why did I take that block and not another? Just coincidence? Or is there some kind of synchronism web (or Matrix) that our subconscious is tapped into and guides us a certain way? I find it mysterious and worthy of some acceptance.

I’ve been guilty of cynicism many times but not in this case. To switch from Jung to Freud, “Sometimes a pipe is just a pipe.”

maybe so *shrug* but I still have only given up on Santa Claus 99.99% so I'm not someone who easily lets go of magical thinking.
I WANT to believe in something, don't TRULY believe in any thing specific and have only recently begun to feel comfortable with that about myself.
So things like synchronicity are fascinating to me.
