Amassing story teller (Mexican Director) Alexandro Gonzales Innaritu is back with a tale more to his roots. Previous wrote/directed "Babel" and "21 Grams".
Uxbal (Javier Bardem) been advised he has but a few months to live. Facing a tragic death he needs to redeem himself and arrange means for his two young children, as a single father. Their mother is mentally ill (bi-polar & alcoholism). He lives off of the streets of Barcelona's black market and illegal Chinese immigrants. I would be understating his life if I said it was a muddled wreckage, but he is a good man, who cares about what happens.
Another magnificent performance from Mr. Bardem, who received an Oscar nomination. This film may not be for every-one as it digs deep into darkness. By the final reel you will comes to terms that Uxbal is a tragic hero...
