Who saw The Heavenly Kid with Jane Kaczmarek, Lewis Smith and Richard Mulligan? Cliche 1980s teen cheese, complete with 50's early early 60's nostalgia. But a good Saturday afternoon movie. I remember my parents renting this from the video store when we got a VCR.

Re: The Heavenly Kid
I saw it a few times; it aired on cable not too long ago. There is a huge continuity error with it. It starts off with them as teenagers in what looked like the late 50s or very early 60s, because of the whole 'greaser' thing happening. He dies in a game of chicken. Fast forward to 1985, he's sent back down to earth to help this approx. sixteen year old kid, who turns out to be his son. How? The dates don't match at all.
On the plus side, though, good theme:

I thought the best part was Richard Mulligan.

Re: The Heavenly Kid
I saw it on TV a long, long time ago. That lady who played the mother in Malcolm In the Middle was the mother in this movie as well.

I noticed that too. Maybe the movie takes place a few years earlier than its year of release (1985.) If we bump it up to 1982 and adjust his age to around 17/18, that would set the back story back to approx. 1963/1964, just shy of the onslaught of the hippy era, with 1950s culture still lingering around those first few years of the 60's.

Interesting explanation Impact. Yeah, I guess that does work.
