When it's done without permission from the owner of the property it's vandalism.

I am often amazed at the genius of graffiti artists.
How they can make a whole building mural with excellent graphics in poor lighting overnight is almost unbelievable.

If it's nothing but a bunch of obscenities, it's trash, if it's something actually pleasant to look at, it's art.

That's how I feel about it. If it's an unsolicited mural, then no matter how creative (for the most part I think graffiti is gaudy) it is, it's vandalism. Any artistic merit is has is irrelevant at that point.

It can be creative, but I don't know if I would call it art if it's vandalism. I have tremendous respect for those skilled street graffiti artists who're summonsed by property owners to add color to the structure, but those arrogant spray painters who just want their 'tag' thrown up I want to see be punished; even if they do have talent.
