Procrastinate, or Just Do It? Empty Procrastinate, or Just Do It?

I have a lot to do today, we're having a party for the twin's birthday tomorrow and I need to clean, bake the cake, buy the stuff for the party (along with all my normal child care stuff that I need to do everyday)...

But I just can't get motivated so I'm wasting time...

Normally I'm a "get it over with" type, but right now I just want to lay in bed on my heating pad.

The worst thing about it is that I'm kind of bored, and I STILL am not getting off my lazy bum. blushing

I just do it. When unfinished/untouched tasks and responsibilities languish on my back, waiting to get done, it bothers me. I don't like the idea of knowing that it's gone undone, because I know that there is no escaping it until it's done. Case in point, last month when we were having all of those blizzards, before work I would go out and shovel while it was still dark out, because I didn't want to come home later on that day and be greeted by a mountain of snow as I pulled into the driveway.

I feel like that is probably the smarter choice. I think I'm overwhelmed so I don't want to get started because I know it's going to be crazy once I do get started.

A lot of times I put it off just as long as I can, which depending on what needs to be done could be days or weeks.

    I think sometimes this works...

Take the laundry, for instance. With 7 people a big dog who needs a new blankie every night to sleep on and two in cloth diapers, we have a LOT of laundry. I used to always stay on top of it and do 3 loads a day, folding them as I finished each load.

Then my husband took over the laundry while I was injured a month or so ago and I just did the folding. I HATED how he did all the loads of wash and then I had to fold like 9 loads at a time...

But now I'm used to it and I kindof like how it doesn't take up my whole day every day, so I've been doing it his way. Washing every other day and washing everything then folding all at once. It takes an hour to fold it all and put it away, but I'm not consumed with laundry all day either. Pros and cons to each I guess.

I am a procrastinator when there are multiple things on my plate. I'm terrible at multi-tasking, so something is going to be pushed to back burner.

I put 'it depends' because while I am not particularly a procrastinator if there is a task that MUST be done within a certain timeframe, if it is one that does not, like my personal writings or cleaning my room, I tend to take in a movie or go to the beach like I did yesterday and today. I'm closer to being a procrastinator I guess, but really most of the time I'm just not in a rush.

Some things I can get done when they need to get done. Other things, I need dynamite to get me going. I find that making a list is a big help. I love crossing things off.

I love that too. So much that for big jobs, like cleaning the kitchen or bathroom, I put sub-lists of things like, wipe our sink, clean toilet, scrub tub...Just so I can cross more things off. blushing

I'm the epitome of a procrastinator. If I can put it off, I most likely will.

It depends on my mood and what else needs to be done. Sometimes it's the most important things I'll hold off on doing because I suspect it may take up too much of my time.

lol, that was funny. My husband is always saying "what?" whenever I say something about hearing something or not being able to hear something. Sometimes I repeat myself like 3 times before I realize that is what he is doing, even after 10 years because he's so dry about it. *sigh* and then he wonders why our 7 year old is always messing with people. They are exactly alike.
