    DirecTV Empty DirecTV

Post by RiteDiva Wed Mar 23, 2011 4:52 pm

I am getting DirecTV installed tomorrow, switching over from Time Warner to save $60/month for the first year. Anyone else have DirecTV, what do you like/dislike?

My father has it & my biggest concern is that my dad experiences quite a few outages and then it seems like forever for it to reboot. Although they told me it should rarely go out but we'll see. One thing I did like is they said they prorate for outages.

    I would appreciate any insight/feedback.

I have had it for years, I like it. Outages are minimal and they don't last very long. I just upgraded to HD and DVR box from Directv and its great. You did a good thing getting away from Time Warner, my Dad has them, they are such a rip off, I think you will enjoy Directv.

I thought about getting it, but I need the stability of digital cable. I don't wanna deal with any of that outage mess. All companies prorate for outages. Time Warner is a rip off and I do have them, but I'm about to switch to FIOS. It's going to suck losing NY One, but I'll manage.

DirecTV is a good choice and it's much better than Dish Network, stay away from them.

I've had DirecTV and the outages don't last long and they don't always happen during rain storms or snow storms. There have been several times during heavy rainstorms that my service never goes out.

I think DirecTV is great and I would still have them, but I bought a TiVo Premier box and it's not compatible with DTV so I switched back to Time Warner.

Careful with FIOS NY read the fine print before you decide, they are just as bad as TW, you may get a good deal for the first year and then after that, everything zooms up in cost.

During the blizzards we had this past January my Directv did not go out once. We had snowstorms every other day and no outages.

I have never had a problem with DirecTV. I switched to Direct TV from cable about 6 yrs ago and it's been for the best. Signal or picture distortions are rare and fleeting.

I have the "medium HD package" w/3 boxes
    1 HD DVR
    1 DVR
    1 plain box

After all is said and done it's around $90/month. That's a little high for my taste, but I wouldn't change it.
