I just noticed you can add people to your "friends" and "foes" and wondered, do people really have foes on here? I don't even have any "friends" besides Chris, and I definitely can't imagine adding a "foe".

I never care about that stuff one way or the other. And I just pretty much ignore the people I don't like.

Re: Do you have a foe?
I've put one poster on my "ignore" list because his circular arguments and refusal to substantiate any of his assertions grew tiresome. I find it much more relaxing coming on here without even seeing his posts, except what gets quoted by others who still have the stamina to take him to task - which confirms my decision to put him on my ignore list.
It is the first time on any forum board that I utilized that option and now wish I had done it with a another obtuse poster on another forum that one could not get reasonable discourse with. Instead, I left that board with several others. (The board is now history)

I have only ignored one person ever on a forum. It was because their avi was one of those video one that move, and it was a penis going into a bum hole over and over again. I wasn't personally offended, but little owls have big eyes!

No. Why bother? I find it hilarious how people get annoyed to the point that they have to "filter" certain posters because they don't like what they say. It's cyberspace. Like seriously, you can live without this shit.

Re: Do you have a foe?
You'd have a second friend if you checked your friend requests a little more often. There's been one sitting there for quite some time now.thepossiblepolice wrote:I just noticed you can add people to your "friends" and "foes" and wondered, do people really have foes on here? Yes I have Foes. I won't say who, but let's just say I got tired of the circular arguments, grumpy intolerance of the remotest dissent, and arrogant ageist comments that hindered discussion. So yeah, I got some people who are "foes."

really? lol, I had no idea. So on your page, do you see their pictures under foes or do you just have them on ignore or something?
ETA: I just looked and now I have 6 friends! lol, I didn't know that I had to check for them.

LOL. I can 'ignore' people's comments without having to result in filtering them. When you go that extra mile, to me, it looks like you care or you're taking it personally. And if a person who is in cyberspace can rile you up and get the best of you from behind a computer screen, then I'd hate to see what people can do to you in person.

Interesting that ppl IRL do not pull the lame shit that ppl in cyberspace pull. IRL you often abide by social constraints to keep someone from putting out your lights. The anonymity and isolation of cyberspace lets some violate those normal societal niceties, hence rude trolls and antagonists whom you know would not get away with such IRL, unless of course they were some physically huge sociopath.
I work with psych cases for pay. I don't need to tolerate them in my off hours.

Of course. But do know that this ain't 'real life'.

LOL. I guess........different strokes for different folks. But nobody who posts on this forum is a 'psych case'. Just because someone has a different opinion than the general consensus doesn't make them a 'psych case'. We don't even have trolls on this forum. Chris can ban people who are obviously here to troll by banning their ISP address. This is a troll free forum. So I don't see the point in the filtering anyone on here because it's not that serious to me. But you do. Mmkay. *Kanye shrug*

Yes we know that but some ppl are more sensitive.Nystyle709 wrote: ... because it's not that serious to me. ...
Some ppl are more courteous and don't use crude language that irritates those who are more sensitive.
I guess it is all what one is used to and wishes to tolerate in social discourse.

Re: Do you have a foe?
For the most part, when I use an ignore feature on forums, it's because the poster in question has a penchant for posting a bunch of gibberish that was silly or inane.

Most boards usually have their post blocked out with the option to view but this one just makes it like they don't exist unless somebody quotes them. (But you can view the post if you take a few small steps. lol) Putting the deserving on my Foes list has made this board a lot easier. Makes discussion with those interested in actual discussion go much more smoothly.
Yeah, most boards notify you when you got friend requests. See? We all like you girl. You got lots of friends.

Re: Do you have a foe?
FM is right; on most forums, when you put someone on ignore, upon running into one of their posts it will read 'you are ignoring ____________,' and then gives you the option to view the post anyway. I am slightly annoyed by that. When I put someone on ignore, I would rather not be reminded of their presence, or know that they are also in the thread that I am in. Sometimes I am tempted to read the post, despite knowing how much they irritate me.
Back in the days of message boards on AOL, they had a great filtering system that not only treated the people you had on ignore like they didn't exist, but also allowed you to killfile subject titles as well, so any threads with certain words in the subject line didn't show up on your screen.
