| If you're going to buy something that costs at least a few hundred dollars, how much resaerch do you do about the product, if any? Do you read Consumer Reports or something similar for reviews? Do you check with friends and family? Or maybe you're the type for whom cost isn't an issue and you just want to make sure your're not getting a total piece of shit. | |

| I do. Not so much Consumer Reports, but reviews from people who have purchased the item. What I look for is the recurring complaint. More often than not it has some significance. I can't afford to replace things every time I turn around so I try to be careful. | |

| Absolutely. I have been burned on ignorant purchases too many times before, now I need to read some reviews, and I prefer to start with the negative. | |

| Recently when I purchased my flat screen TV I looked first to see what TV's were selling the best and I came up with the top 2 from consumer report. Then I did research on both of them, customer reviews mostly and that is how I made my decision on which one to buy. I then waited until President's day weekend for the sales and went to buy it at the store that had the best price. | |

| The *most* research I do is the price. I will look around to see where I can get it the cheapest. I might look it up online and read the customer reviews but for the most part, I'm gonna buy what I like and what I want. | |

| Yeah - I do research - read reports, talk to people, read reviews. I want to make sure I'm getting the product that best suits me. | |

| If it's an electronic, or plug in, item that costs at least $30-$50 then I will research prices, features and warranty. | |
