I do let my children decide when to stop. That's what is recommended by the AAP, the WHO and pretty much all bfing advocates. The average age of weaning around the world is four so this woman is outside of the "norm" and I have seen her video, posted by people who are uncomfortable with bfing as fodder for their anti-bfing agenda over and over again.
There's nothing "wrong" with what she's doing, but I wish that she wouldn't distract from the real issues that bfing women face. The fact is that women are treated like there is something wrong with them for nursing once their kids have teeth, for nursing in public, for nursing once their kid can "ask for it" (mine could ask when they were 6 months old, well before the age of 2 which is the minimum age that a kid should be weaned for optimum health according to all the sources mentioned above).
So she is nursing her kid who is 8, I wouldn't do it but I think it's a much bigger deal that some kids are never bf at all.
We are told to bf exclusively to 6 months, add solids and continue bfing after that until 12 months, and toddlers should be on "table" food & breast milk after that until age two and then as long as MUTUALLY desired after that. Most woman aren't comfortable nursing an 8 yo, as I'm not, and most kids don't want to nurse that long anyway.
