Beyond salt and pepper, are there any spices that are essential for you to keep in your cabinet?

Ground Cumin (Comino en polvo). It is the flavor of chili but I like it in chopped spinach with garlic and olive oil. (BTW, it smells a little like natural armpits - which I also like.)
Also, Cilantro (Coriander leaves) in black beans is a must. There is a wild plant (Cilantro Cimarron) that has a similar taste and is the actual Cuban flavoring for black beans. Cilantro is also the flavor I like in an Indian dish of cucumbers/tomatoes in yogurt. Very fresh tasting.

Re: 'Must have' spices?
Garlic powder, Minced onion, Oregano, Cavenders…and, of course, Lawry's Seasoning Salt. I have a few more, but I guess those would be my top 5. Very good question.

It is, it's especially good on rice, it makes it suitable to eat, Oh I hate the taste of rice, but I eat a lot of it, always covered in the barbecue sauce.
