Absolutely, just as I believe that Zeus fathered the demigod Perseus with Danae.

What is real is still yet to be determined in a lot of areas though.
And to answer, yes I do.

Do you believe humans have only been on this planet for about 6,000 years?

God created everything. Forget about atoms, molecules, amino acids. The Earth is only 10,000 yrs old anyway. You didn't know that?

No, I'm an ignorant heathen. Not too long ago I would have been burned at the stake. The Earth revoloves around the Sun not vice versa.Nystyle709 wrote:God created everything. Forget about atoms, molecules, amino acids. The Earth is only 10,000 yrs old anyway. You didn't know that?

Yes, that is now true because the Catholic Church acknowledged it a few years ago and exonerated Galileo (whom they threatened to burn at the stake if he did not recant his 'blasphemy').alan smithee wrote: ...I'm an ignorant heathen. Re: Were Adam and Eve real?
Something interesting I read a while back, I looked up who originally found out that the world was round, Columbus seems to get the credit for this but I don't ever recall him making that actual statement...and the answer I got was that there were mentions in the Bible of the world being round, so if the Bible said it was, then I'm guessing the people who followed the Bible believed it as well, then who in the HELL was it saying that the world was flat?

I'd like to see that passage in the bible. I think Copernicus was the first to state the world was round, but will have to wait for Alan to confirm that (My own personal Google)
There are things in Buddhist texts that sounds like Gaotama was talking about atoms and macrocosm/microcosm 500 BCE.

There are things in Buddhist texts that sounds like Gaotama was talking about atoms and macrocosm/microcosm 500 BCE.
In the Old Testament, Job 26:7 explains that the earth is suspended in space, the obvious comparison being with the spherical sun and moon.
A literal translation of Job 26:10 is “He described a circle upon the face of the waters, until the day and night come to an end.” A spherical earth is also described in Isaiah 40:21-22—“the circle of the earth.”
howeverThe Hebrew record is the oldest, because Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible. Historians generally [wrongly] credit the Greeks with being the first to suggest a spherical earth. In the sixth century B.C., Pythagoras suggested a spherical earth.
Eratosthenes of Alexandria (circa 276 to 194 or 192 B.C.) calcuated the circumference of the earth “within 50 miles of the present estimate.” [Encyclopedia Brittanica]
The myth of the Flat Earth is the modern misconception that the prevailing cosmological view during the Middle Ages saw the Earth as flat, instead of spherical. This idea seems to have been widespread during the first half of the 20th century, so that the Members of the Historical Association in 1945 stated that:
"The idea that educated men at the time of Columbus believed that the earth was flat, and that this belief was one of the obstacles to be overcome by Columbus before he could get his project sanctioned, remains one of the hardiest errors in teaching."
During the early Middle Ages, virtually all scholars maintained the spherical viewpoint first expressed by the Ancient Greeks. By the 14th century, belief in a flat earth among the educated was essentially dead. Flat-Earth models were in fact held at earlier (pre-Medieval) times, before the spherical model became commonly accepted in Hellenistic astronomy.

Tip of the cap to your very humorous rhetoric . But that's what you have to resort to when you try and defend just one of the world's many creation myths . Virtually all societies have them.

I remember a preacher who used to preach that as fact from the pulpit when I was a kid.
