The Tingler with Vincent Price Tingler

Not one of the more famous works of Vincent Price OR William Castle, but still a very good creepy little movie. Is anyone here familiar with it?

    Oh yes, indeeed, VERY creepy!

Now the one my mother and I always wonder about is HOW did they pull off the special effect of that hand coming out of the bloody bath? How did they pull that off?

And for all its campy little spook tactics, when we first saw this movie we always thought it had a valid point; my mother's always believed if a person was scared to a certain point and couldn't scream that they would probably have a heart attack and die.

I am sure that it was a very simple effect since back then there were no computer generated effects.

I read somewhere that when the Tingler was originally released in movie theaters, some seats in the theater were wired so when the tingler was loose the seats would get vibrations thus causing the audience to scream for their lives LOL!!!

Oh yes, that was William Castle, the gimmick king, insurance policies against death of fright, floating skeletons, the coward's corner, etc.

    bump

I like this opening, I like that they actually had the director come out and talk to the audience, something that you don't really see much in any kind of movie.

And of course THIS is probably THE most famous scene from that movie:

and I would still like to know HOW they did that, where is the guy this arm belongs to? We see its shadows on the tub and on the dresser so obviously someone was actually there for it, but how?
