Dancing with the Stars’ Loses Big Audience as Soap Fans Switches Channels
Tonight, is ABC’s biggest rating night. Tonight, the much
anticipated “Dancing with the Stars” will air. Yet, thousands, if not
millions of agitated soap fans will switching channels tonight. They
will no longer be supporting ABC and watching “Dancing with the Stars”,
no matter how much they may be rooting for Kirstie, Ralph, Hines, Chris
or any other star dancer. See, they made a choice and they choose their
soaps.
ABC made a bad business decision last week. They cancelled two of
their longest running daytime soaps: “One Life to Live” and “All My
Children.” Now the fans are fighting back in every way possible. They
are boycotting all ABC shows, except for the three soaps, “All My
Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “General Hospital.”. They are
talking to ABC sponsors. They are planning rallies outside of ABC
studios. They mean business.
No, this action is not something that they plan on doing for a day or
a week. This is an action they plan on continuing until ABC comes to
their senses. If this means giving up “Dancing with the Stars” and
shows like “Desperate Housewives” then so be it.
Actually, when you think about it, soap fans helped to make “Dancing
with the Stars” a success. They were part of the audience that built
the show into the gigantic TV rating house it is right now. Stars of
the soaps were always featured on it. In fact, the first star to win
the competition was a soap star. Do you remember Kelly Monaco from
General Hospital? She was season’s one winner. What about Susan Lucci
and Cameron Mathison? You know they helped to bring in viewers to the
show. Plus, Rebecca Budig helped to bring in viewers to “Dancing with
the Stars”, spin off “Skating with the Stars” and she won that
competition. That proves just how much star power our soap stars have
and how much voices our soap fans have.
