Is Gluttony a sin?

There are seven deadly sins – and gluttony is one of them. Do you consider the act of overeating a sin?

It's harmful to your physical well being but I'm not really into the "sin" (as in religious) stuff.

It is one of the Seven Capital sins but then again, how many of us can say we never committed this sin?

From a purely Biblical sense it is since the Bible lists it as such.

But since I do not believe in the Bible being the word of God I do not look at glutonny as something that offended God.

I do think it makes sense that to much gluttony is bad for the body so the Bible may have something going on there by refering to it in a negative note.

As far as I can remember the word sin in the times of the Bible means missing the target. In other words people may try to do their best in life but as humans we do miss that target or goal in doing the best we can. We may know the eating too much may not be good to the body so when we do we simply miss that goal we know is best for us.

No.

I'd say that yes, it is a sin, and yes, it's one I'm sure most of us have taken part in. It's fine on occasion, but when it happens regularly, it's dangerous and can lead to lots of problems.
