    Pretty obscure (as many of the things I like are) from 1982. Frederick Forrest (Chef in Apocalypse Now) as real life mystery writer Dashiell Hammett involved in a ficional case that bears many a resemblance to some of his novels. What was cool was the casting of some great old timers like Elisha Cook and Sylvia Sidney. If you're a fan of films like The Maltese Falcon, you'll pick out characters that are supposed to make you belive were the basis for characters that would up there.
