Would you enter the program to save your life even if it meant never seeing any family who weren't going in with you?

Re: Witness protection
I would if I could go with my son. It is a hard thing. I hope I would never, ever be witness to anything I would testify about in order to create a need for me to go into hiding. Scary stuff for the people it happens to.

I want to say I would never leave the people I love to go into hiding. But..if it's that serious they might be in danger themselves if I didn't. So that's a tough question.

Re: Witness protection
Maybe, but knowing me, I would probably wind up sending some kind of a message to my loved ones to let them know that I was alive and alright, or just leaving the program at some point, risks and all.

Re: Witness protection
No, I don't think so. Outside of the immediate family, the remaining relatives I have already been kept away from too long to let my safety get in the way.

Re: Witness protection
If I did something like that, it would be less about my own protection and more about my kids. If my being around posed a risk to them, I would go.

Re: Witness protection
What would really suck is what happened to James Caan in Hide In Plain Sight. He plays a divorced father whose ex-wife takes up with a criminal. Short story long, he marries her and winds up in the Witness protection Program along with Caan's children and he has nothing to say about it or any idea where they are. It's been a while since I've watched it but he might not even have been informed they were going into the program. It's based on a real life case.

Re: Witness protection
If my immediate family was with me, it would still be hard, but I"d do it. If it meant never seeing my immediate family again? Well - the only way I'd do it was if they were in danger if I stayed around. I'd give them up to save their lives.
