| If you have seen the Bette Davis movie, or even if you haven't, I think everybody ought to read this book, this is one that is just downright spine tingling, nerve wracking creepy...in a lot of ways very similar to the Hammer horror film of 1965 but also very different in many ways and anybody who's seen the movie and read the book will know what I mean...this, I think this would cure anybody of ever wanting to hire a nanny, they certainly convinced me never to get any hired help. Centers on a family where their son Joey was sent to a...I guess reform school or something, for 2 years for killing his younger brother, which he says the nanny did, but nobody believes him of course. Well, Joey comes home, and now his parents are violently ill, apparently poisoned, and once again, it looks like Joey did it but he insists the nanny did it...well, both parents are wheeled off to the hospital, leaving Joey alone with beloved Nanny...I don't label things psychological terrors but I think this one could qualify...and if you're like me, the last few pages will have you about ready to climb the ceiling with suspense. | |
