I don't think toddlers and babies should be brought to events where a courteous audience is expected, such as a dance recital, a play, or small concert of sorts. Last year at a dance recital I took my daughter to, there was at one point, a baby in the audience that decided it was time to screech at the top of its lungs, and the idiot parents let it go on and disrupt the dancers on stage instead of removing the child to the lobby. One fed up audience member actually shouted "Take the baby out!!!" right in the middle of the dance number and the parents finally got it, but they were morons for having had to be told.
This year, they actually made an announcement at the start of this past weekend's recital, that if there were any crying babies in the audience, it was expected that they'd be taken to the lobby so as not to disrupt the show.
