Is there a particular illness episode that stands out in your mind as the sickest you've ever been?

There have been a few, the Christmas I was I think 17, I got the stomach flu so bad, I was throwing up so much, I literally thought I was going to die.
Then, the summer I was 18 I got the chickenpox, and my mother thought I was going to die.
Then that winter we all got the swine flu and were sick for about 2 months.

Couple of years ago I had an upper respitory in December that did not clear up until the end of February! It started to go away by the holidays but never really cleared up. In January it came back again full force. I was on meds and the cough just lingered on for months!

Bad upper respiratory is the worse I've had and last year had one that lasted more than a month, with more than one night of fever sweating. Had bronchitis with koffing in the night and still have a rattling sometimes when I run.Tony Marino wrote:Couple of years ago I had an upper respitory in December that did not clear up until the end of February! But when I was young and living in the barracks in Turkey, I either got food poisoning or stomach virus that was so painful while sitting on the toilet, I actually thot what would happen if I died there.
Kinda funny thot. I would be dead in a toilet stall in the barracks. Guys would come and go and just see my legs and feet under the door. Would the stink of decomp finally be noticed over the stink of shit, or would my decaying legs and feet finally be noticed.
I have a morbid sense of humor sometimes. The question went unanswered - I didn't die.

I have not been too sick, so strep throat a few years ago is probably the worst I have had it. The pain from that was terrible.

The worst was probably a stomach flu. One time I felt so bad I just crawled into the bathroom with a pillow and blanket and huddled around the toilet. Chills and stuff shooting out of both ends. Fun, fun, fun.

Had some trouble breathing when I was a kid. But I think the sickest I've ever felt was when I caught swine flu. I have weak joints anyway, so it was the worst bodily pain I've ever been in. I couldn't stand.

Other than the flu, no. I don't get the flu very often. Maybe about once every 6 or 7 years. But when I do get it....it's a wrap.
