This is a tough one. For like 15 yrs, me and my father would play Jeopardy every night. He would make it home in time to play. I love both of them, but I'ma go with Wheel of Fortune. It's always been (and still is) one of my goals to get on that show.

NY how does that work if you apply, do you have to get on line with like a thousand other people and hope you get picked?

Something like that. You basically have to audition for the show like everything else. They'll have a few mock games where they pit you up against other people. You have to do well enough and it helps to be personable enough for them to pick you. It's pretty much entirely up to the producers to pick you. You also have to go through several rounds I believe before they offer you a spot on the big show. And then if they're filming in L.A., you have to get out there on your own. They do not provide transportation.

If you live in the L.A. area, or plan to be here, and want to be a contestant on the show, you have to audition. The first step is to send a postcard to:

    "Wheel Of Fortune" Contestant Auditions
    102002 W. Washington Blvd., Suite 5300
    Culver City, Ca. 90232

What you need to Know to Play Wheel of Fortune
Include your name and phone number, and print or type the exact date(s) that you will be in Los Angeles.

If they are conducting an audition during that time period, you may be contacted to come down and audition for the show.

The auditions are often held in hotel ballrooms. The contestant coordinators bring about 70 wannabe contestants together and create a sort of mini version of "Wheel of Fortune", complete with puzzles and a miniature wheel. All the auditioners take turns standing, calling out letters, and solving puzzles. Then they take a 5 minute written test, consisting of of 16 puzzles (where you have to fill in the missing letters). Afterward, they grade the tests and hand out door prizes. Then the coordinators tell some of the people to go home, while other people are allowed to stay and play more mock "Wheel" games (as the coordinators size them up). It all take about two hours.

However, even if you make the first cut, when you finally head home you still won't know whether you've been selected to be a contestant. You'll have to wait (indefinitely) for them to write to you - if you've been selected. They base their selections in part on the test scores, but also on their general impression of how you'd perform on the show.

I prefer Wheel of Fortune, as a kid I ALWAYS wanted to go on that show, and think I could do better on it than on Jeopardy.

Jeopardy! Wheel of Fortune is a DUMB, mindless gameshow that is more about luck than skill. The categories don't make any sense and half the time the "phrases" are just random made up expressions that nobody ever actually says in real life except the writers at Wheel of Fortune.

Wheel. But Mom was such a pro at Jeopardy that I love watching just to think about her and how she knew so many of the answers.

I don't actually watch either. I've seen each of them maybe a couple of times but game shows really aren't my thing.

I agree that many of the so-called phrases on Wheel of Fortune sound impromptu and made up.

Wheel of Fortune has been on for 28 yrs. They were bound to run out of the popular phrases sooner or later. They can't keep recycling them.
